Torque Arm Link, MC28
The NSR250 engine is rubber mounted to the frame to reduce vibration. The torque arm link that is fitted between the swing arm pivot and the engine stops the engine from lurching backwards and forwards during acceleration, deceleration and gear changes, while still absorbing the engine vibrations.
Over time, the torque arm link bushes become worn and loose. This then allows small movements especially when power is applied. It is particularly noticeable when changing from one low gear to another and makes the gear change feel very clunky.
The initial reaction is to check the gearbox, but before going there, it is a good idea to check the torque arm and if it is worn, to replace it with this high quality titanium upgrade. The improvement can be dramatic.
