Why the Suzuki RGV250 VJ23?
The Suzuki RGV250 VJ23 is widely seen as the final evolution of the RGV250 line. Rare, desirable and never widely exported, it remains one of the most collectible Japanese two-stroke sport bikes of its era.
After developing parts for the earlier VJ21 and VJ22 models, TYGA Performance expanded its range for the VJ23 in response to growing demand from owners looking to restore, upgrade or transform their bikes.
Development of the TYGA Performance VJ23 Range
TYGA started with an original Japanese-market VJ23 and used it to develop a dedicated range of parts. What began as product development soon turned into a complete Lucky Strike tribute build, combining functional upgrades with race-inspired styling.
The focus was not only on appearance, but also on creating a serious platform for Suzuki RGV250 VJ23 parts, including chassis, bodywork and performance components developed specifically for this rare model.
Exhaust and Power Up Kit for the RGV250 VJ23
A major part of the build is the TYGA Performance exhaust and power-up kit for the Suzuki RGV250 VJ23. This setup includes expansion chambers, Zeeltronic electronics, airbox snorkels and a widened rear lower cowling designed to reduce the risk of heat damage on modified VJ23 bikes.
The result is a sharper, more purposeful machine with strong top-end performance and the unmistakable character of a tuned 250cc two-stroke.
Carbon Parts, Step Kit and Bodywork Upgrades
Beyond the power upgrades, TYGA developed a wide range of carbon and chassis parts for the Suzuki RGV250 VJ23. The project bike features a racing step kit, rear hugger, carbon air ducts, frame covers, swingarm covers and other detail parts that reduce weight and sharpen the overall appearance.
TYGA also refined the seat section with a cleaner rear-end layout and additional lightweight components to give the bike a more focused race-bike look.
Chassis Details and Finishing Touches
TYGA continued developing the VJ23 with additional detail parts and cleaner finishing touches. The project evolved with more carbon parts, refined mounting components and upgrades intended to improve both the appearance and the function of the bike.
These kinds of changes are what help turn a standard bike into a true Suzuki RGV250 VJ23 project bike with a factory-race feel.
Lucky Strike Paint Scheme
The most eye-catching part of the build is the Lucky Strike paint scheme. TYGA Performance adapted the classic red, white and blue race style to the VJ23 bodywork, creating a tribute that feels period-correct while still unique to this project.
Matching the colours and design lines was one of the biggest challenges of the build, but the final result gives the bike a bold Grand Prix-inspired identity that suits the VJ23 perfectly.
Ride Impressions
On the road, the RGV250 VJ23 Lucky Strike delivers exactly what riders expect from a serious two-stroke project bike: smooth low-speed manners, a thrilling mid-to-top-end power delivery and an engaging chassis. With the TYGA power-up setup producing over 60 horsepower, the bike feels lively, fast and confidence-inspiring.
The ergonomics, braking performance and overall balance make the VJ23 surprisingly usable, while the electric start and updated components help it feel less dated than many other classic two-strokes.
Part 2 Updates
Like many TYGA project bikes, this VJ23 was never truly finished. Later refinements focused on cleaner detailing and improved usability. Bright hardware accents were removed for a better match with the Lucky Strike livery, upgraded TYGA fork tops sharpened the cockpit area and a modified black subframe gave the rear of the bike a more purposeful look.
Further refinements included improved Lucky Strike decals and clutch changes for smoother road manners, turning the bike into a more complete and better balanced Suzuki RGV250 VJ23 project bike.
